Doxie Christmas Shopping Downtown Charlottesville

Copyright Titus The Teckel 2016

Yesss... it's that time of the year where we get to give gifts to our friends!

Don't you just love the holiday season?

We're huge fans of shopping locally.
Charlottesville has some of the best shopping for pooches and kittens.
And we're so grateful for the special treatment everyone gives us!

This weekend, Pandora headed to the Charlottesville Downtown Mall
for some window-shopping for Mom.
Our aunt Kay joined us.

Photos by Kay Taylor
of Sheridan Avenue Studios.

Alright, so let's go already!!!

The Downtown Mall is a great place, even if it rained today.
It's full of interesting people, and tons of interesting dogs and smells!

There are very few chains on the mall, most everyone there is a small business owner like we used to be.
We love that because it reminds us of our shop.
We miss that place.

CVille still has four fabulous book stores on the mall, which is amazing to us. We love to read, especially about art.

Mom said that when she moved here, the trees on the mall had just been planted and were tiny. Now they are huge...
We love them in the summer because they give so much shade.

There are tons of festivals downtown CVille, great galleries and tons of great things to do.
Including EATING, of course!
Our fave place among others is Citizen Burger
and they let us sit and dine with our  humans outside on their patio in the warm season, Euro style. Play Doh likes their fries.

Okay, so Pandora cheated a little and got Mom to carry her around for a bit. It's like a taxi.
Low riders aren't crazy about the wet ground, ya know...

Then they found this amazing Christmas window at Caspari Paper.
How gorgeous, it was filled with oodles of wonderful things that once were made in the German "Erzgebirge". Mom has some of the original pieces and she was VERY excited.

(They also have some awesome gifts for pet owners!)

I think she just saw something she likes...

They spent the day walking and walking and it was tons of fun.
If and when we move, we will really miss this place.

Next stop:

It's amazing that a small place like Charlottesville has such an awesome venue.

Now you KNOW Pandora's all about expressing her opinion.

Sundays are for families!

Sundays at our house are all about togetherness.

(And, apparently about biting Mom's nose...)

Spending time with our family is really important to us.

Learning how to share, and playing in the grass.
Going for long walks, chasing Daddy, picking berries, and digging enormous holes.

Spending time out in Nature: there's so much to discover!

And smelling things in the air, we love that too.

Knowing that just being alive and
enjoying life is totally over the top!

Remember to think BIG this Sunday, get out and play - and ENJOY LIFE!

See you next week!

Visit to the IX Art Park: Dream Big!

Just recently, I took a little trip with my Boss and Aunt Kay to a really cool new local art project here in Charlottesville.

Amazing, I tell ya!

It's called the IX ART PARK and is located in the IX Warehouse district right in the heart of Downtown.

"The IX Art Park unites historic reuse, urban redevelopment, and greenspace principles to establish a signature multi-use destination in downtown Charlottesville, Virginia. Tucked in a broad green valley only three blocks from Charlottesville's historic downtown mall, the old Frank Ix and Sons silk factory is transforming into a diverse mixed-use community for the Arts. The park features innovative development, arts patronage and environmental stewardship that is not just a benefit to IX residents, but to the entire community. Come dream Charlottesville with us and DREAM BIG."

"IX will also teach career craft skills in metal, wood, concrete, glass, mosaic and tile. Yes, art can have a financial function. Furthermore, the IX Art Park intends to provide semi-permanent artist in residence studios, installation spaces and retail opportunities for the arts. The city needs them. We’re thinking of a microcinema. A black box theater. And a public piazza. There might even be dancing. Do you tango? Or, maybe clog? Step?"

If  you are visiting Charlottesville, you should definitely check it out!

The energy is super-inspiring, and so are the colors!

So much to see already, and they've only just begun!

You know I like to dabble in some art and painting myself, and this is right up my alley.
I look forward to seeing it develop over the next few years.

Learn more about the project here.
And, as always, remember to

xx

jolly jail time

By now I'm sure you know that I've landed in jail...
Being perfect is very hard.

Jail's not really jail. But it means I have to stay in our workshop.
Which, I have to admit, is actually kind of a cool place.

We make square things here. For people. And they get really excited about what we make, as if it were
a big piece of cheese. So I've decided that I'd try to make my folly up to Mommy by helping her out a little.

Here goes: I put on my apron and grabbed some tools and some of those long things that go in a square.
I wasn't allowed to use the big equipment cause you need to use your feet and the paws at the same time, and, eh, I'm a little too height challenged for that. This: I got this!

... ummm ... so you put this here... and this here....

... eehhh... and you put this over here...

Hm. The paws. It's the paws. I'm having some trouble. I wish my uncle Dave was here, he'd help me!

... hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Em, I think this ain't my thang after all... now what?

Oh goodie (hallelujah): Mom said it's okay and I can go home now! (VICTORY!!!!!!!)

She said I helped out a lot and I was a good boy. (Phew.)

And honestly, jail isn't all that bad. It's full of challenges, but it has it's good points.
And every day I learn something new. Like: paws and waterproof wood glue: not a good match.

 'Later!

Time for Holiday Bow Ties!

Hooray, it's the season for some new bow ties!

Like my swanky buddy Tom told me earlier this year: a true Southern gentleman always wears a bow tie.
I'll do him proud today I think.

I can't wait for Christmas, I'm so excited, and here are my favorite party ties this year so far.

At the bottom you can find some other stylish men who also favor(ed) bow ties.
They had super-great taste, you might even recognize one or two of them.

Ciao!
Titus

The full Monty! Santy!

Sweet Peppermint-Stick Bow Tie.

Sassy Chocolate Santa Bow Tie.

Chocolate Dapple Mint Bow Tie.

And here are those other gentlemen who favor bow ties:

Karl Lagerfeld, one of my fashion icons of course.
Although I'm not sure he always qualifies as a gentleman;)

Churchill. Supposedly he was kinda famous.

Look: Abraham Lincoln wore bow ties!
(He also was a little before my time.)

Oh, heh, couldn't leave out Harry Styles.
He's kinda more my speed and hey: that's a sweet design he's got on there!

Love the raised brow, might have to practice that look.

Okay, see you next time!

Guess WHO??

Well I'll be darned!

There I was, cruising along East High Street in C-Ville in my red Fiat 500 Model "T"
and what do I spy?
Me!
In high places!
On a Billboard! Wowsie!

It's for the wonderful people who take care of me when I'm sick and when I have fleas.

Check it out some time, I'll be waving atcha!

Boom: roasted!

Thanks to everyone who came out to eat some weenies with me
on Saturday at the McIntire Fall Fest!

Aunt Kay, Dad and Mom teamed up to roast weenies in front of La Linea Bella! all day to benefit the Hot Dog Hill Sanctuary (I'm not tall enough to reach the grill, or I'd have flipped a few dogs -- and eaten a few more too!). Hot Dog Hill devotes their time, love and effort to taking in dachshunds (and other doggies) that are elderly or ill or deemed unadoptable due to other health issues. Some only have a few weeks left to live, but Hot Dog Hill believes in giving them the comfortable and dignified last chapter they deserve. If you've ever taken care of an elderly dog, you know how much love, devotion, understanding and patience it requires. There are many people who just cannot handle this stage of a dog's life and that's where Hot Dog Hill steps in. They are a small  organization near Richmond, Virginia and you can find them and their current furry friends on Facebook.

This is my late sister Mausi. She passed away at the age of 19+ last year and I am dedicating this weenie roast to her memory. She was awesome and we miss her very much!

Favorite part of the day?
My friend Zoe came down to the festival. She told her Mom that she wanted to buy her whole family dinner in order to donate the money she had made with her lemonade stand to the dogs at Hot Dog Hill. Isn't that just super-awesome??? I am so impressed.

I managed to raise about $150 with my roast, which is just a little drop in the bucket, but we had such a great time and we hope that you will check out Hot Dog Hill and support their venue as well!

Thanks to the terrific folks at Hot Dog Hill for their devotion and love for all four legged creatures.

If you'd also like to donate to their cause, just click here!

See you soon!

I'm a radio star now!

Yeah, that's right: that's me you see in that chair there!
These guys turned the whole studio over to me today. Melted like butter.

Think BIG, right?
Well, that's my motto, that's me!

These are my new friends Pam & Vinnie on Hitkicker 99.7.

They get up SUPER early in the morning and have their own show.
(Not like me, I like to lounge around in the mornings and eat bacon...)
I think they are really cool. And when we drive to work in the morning, we listen to them.
Pam is very sassy and she wears red boots. That's pretty awesome.
I think she's got a boot fetish just like Mom.
But I think I want to be like Vinnie.

I went to the station today to check out what they do there. They invited me!
They even let me sing into the microphone.
The headphones were a little big for me, they'll have to get me smaller ones for the next time I come back. I'm gonna sing like Blake one day and then I'll make a record and they'll all want me to autograph my photos with my paw.

But right now I'm still practicing my yodeling.

Testing, testing... one, two. three... yeeee-haw!

(Yep, sounds good!)
Very cool.

Well, all things have to come to an end and eventually we had to leave so they could get back to work. But not without taking one more cool picture with me.

Here's Mom, on the left, wearing her favorite boots, and Pam with her hot-tamale-boots on the right. An the handsome dude with the badge (in the middle there):
well, that's me.

I love my Mom, but Pam's pretty great too. I'll hope she'll autograph this photo for me.
(Will ya, Pam??)

Well, that was an exciting day!
Thanks y'all, I had a super great time!

Now, as we dachshunds like to say:
"Get a-long, little doggie!"

See you again soon for more fun around C'Ville!!!!!!

Love y'all!
xoxo TITUS
